Weddings

In Jewish tradition, the ultimate bond is marriage. This sacred partnership between two souls is a source of profound joy. At OVS, we are honored to help couples transition from two individuals into a shared life together. Whether you plan to celebrate your wedding at our beautiful synagogue or another venue, we are excited to be part of your journey.

Rabbi Hearshen Officiates Jewish Weddings

Rabbi Hearshen officiates weddings between two Jewish partners. If you’re engaged, we encourage you to contact our office as soon as possible to begin planning. We’ll help you select a meaningful date, keeping in mind that weddings are not held on Shabbat, Jewish holidays, during the Omer (from Passover until Lag B’Omer), or during the three weeks leading up to Tisha B’Av in the summer.

Rabbi Hearshen works closely with each couple to create a ceremony that honors Jewish tradition while reflecting your unique relationship. Together you’ll craft a wedding which includes required elements, optional traditions, and personal touches to make it truly your own.

Pre-Marital Counseling

Rabbi Hearshen requires pre-marital counseling for all couples. He offers monthly sessions using resources from the John Gottman Institute or can refer you to another therapist or clergy member to support your preparation for marriage.

Additional Information

If either partner has been previously married, a Get (Jewish divorce document) is required, regardless of gender.
