Annual James Arogeti OVS Stipend
The family of Merrill and Sheila Wynne, longtime associate members and friends of Congregation Or VeShalom (OVS), has established an annual $2,500 Stipend in loving memory of James “Yeshaya” Arogeti, z”l. The Stipend is to be used toward a qualifying Jewish educational or leadership training experience as described below. You are invited to submit an application to the OVS Stipend Committee.
Applicant Qualifications
Parent(s) of applicant (or applicant) must be a full member in good standing at Congregation Or VeShalom.
Applicant must be age 13 and older by the application submission deadline.
Application Submission Deadline
Application submission deadline for the 2018 Stipend award is March 30, 2018.
Application must be delivered to Congregation Or VeShalom by 2:00 p.m. or post-marked by March 30, 2018.
Application Submission Requirements
Applicant should submit an essay consisting of no more than 350 words or one page explaining why they desire the Stipend and what they plan to do with funds awarded from the Stipend, including name of the organization or experience that the funds will be used for.
Application should contain a cover page with applicant name, address, telephone number, and Email address.
Application essay should be typed on one, single-spaced page, solely using a font of not less than 12 points, with one-inch top, bottom, left, and right margins.
Electronic submissions should be in Microsoft Word® format.
Stipend Award Date
Stipend will be awarded on or before April 16, 2018. Notification of Stipend winner also will be posted in the weekly bulletin and on the Congregation web site at http://www.orveshalom.org.
Qualifying Use of Stipend
Stipend funds can be used toward any Jewish education, camping, social organization, Israel travel program, or young adult leadership training program. This may include, but is not limited to, Jewish Day and High School tuition, Jewish camping experience, Jewish social organization conference or convention, leadership training seminars, Israel trip such as Birthright, or Judaic studies program at any accredited college or university. Requirements of Stipend Winner
Stipend winner shall report on their use of the Stipend to the Congregation during one Shabbat Service at a time that is mutually agreeable to both the winner and the congregation and give a summary presentation at a Board of Directors’ meeting following her or his use of the Stipend.
