A message from OVS President Michael Bouhadana

Michael Bouhadana

This Friday, March 1 marks the 23rd annual Shabbat Across America, organized by the National Jewish Outreach Program. This event allows Jews across North America, regardless of affiliation, to enjoy a “taste of Shabbat.” While so many of us at OVS have well-practiced rituals and traditions that we observe on Shabbat, there are other Jews who have rarely - or perhaps even never - observed Shabbat. Shabbat Across America encourages all Jews to participate in honoring Shabbat - whether at home, or with a participating congregation.

Those who know me, know that I am enthusiastic about honoring the Shabbat, and so I am especially proud that OVS has opted to register as a participating synagogue for Shabbat Across America. We have scheduled our monthly Congregational Dinner to coordinate with this celebration, and still have some spaces left for those who would like to join us. Whether attending services, enjoying a delicious meal, conversing with friends and family or listening to a d’var Torah, Shabbat at OVS is full of moments for us all to enjoy.

Please RSVP to the OVS office if you would like to attend this special Congregational Dinner. If you already have Friday night dinner plans, we hope that you will join us for Shabbat Services on Friday night or Saturday morning. Let’s ensure that spending Shabbat together is yet another tradition that OVS is passing down, l’dor v’dor!

Shabbat Shalom,
