Michael Bouhadana

On a recent business trip to Rhode Island (not to be confused with the Island of Rhodes), I thought I might attend a local Minyan service at a local synagogue in Providence. How do I find a synagogue suitable for me? I logged into my laptop and browsed through synagogue websites. I launched Facebook where I scrolled through synagogue pages for events. I wondered what sort of vibe comes through their Facebook presence. In 2018, individuals form first impressions of a synagogue community through their online presence. The following cliché applies to online presence, “It’s not easy to change a first impression.” An active synagogue community can benefit from an active social media presence. Please help us improve our on-line presence.

Please go to our Facebook page and join the Congregation Or Veshalom community. We regularly stream Jewish heritage news, local events and you’ll see the Rabbi’s regular weekly Facebook Live of his D’Var Torah (a spiritual lesson, applicable to all of us, from this week’s Torah portion).  Click the “like” button - both on the page and on each post that interests you. The number of “likes” increases our relevance to the Atlanta community. We currently have more than 900 unique “likes” on our page – the goal is to reach 1000.  Please help us reach our goal.

I ultimately found a local Minyan, but my schedule allowed for an earlier return to Atlanta. I look forward to attending services where I call home, Congregation Or Veshalom.

Shabbat Shalom,

Michael
