Michael Bouhadana

What would you do with your money if you received $86,000 every day for the rest of your life? The one condition is you cannot save your cash; you must spend the full amount each day or lose it. Rabbi Kassorla posed this thought question to everyone at our all-night Shavuot study session this past Saturday night. $86,000 is an analogy on the number of seconds we have each day.  The Rabbi led us into a thoughtful discussion and engaged us with more learning topics for the first evening of Shavuot. Thank you to Rabbi Kassorla for preparing a lively and participatory study session. We also express our gratitude to Georgette Cohen for preparing a Moroccan fish dinner and serving cheese cake to everyone attending (we learned the Talmudic source for the tradition of dairy on Shavuot – make sure you ask the Rabbi). What a wonderful Saturday evening of learning and socializing at our Kehila!

Those who attend our regular adult learning sessions through the week get a lot out of the experience. The opportunities to learn at Congregation Or VeShalom include regular sessions with the Rabbi at Shabbat Services, Rabbi’s Lunch and Learn on Thursday’s, AND Sephardic Kollel classes and Hebrew conversation classes on Sunday. We are eager to expand adult education experiences at Congregation Or VeShalom; so please express your ideas to Rabbi Kassorla and find other like-minded people interested in starting up a class.
