A message from OVS President Michael Bouhadana

Michael Bouhadana

While our congregation does its best to maintain a regular Monday and Thursday minyan, we're not consistent. Our members often have to attend other synagogues on weekdays, if they want to say Kaddish, celebrate festivals that land on the weekday (such as Lag Ba Omer this week), or take out the Torah.
How do other synagogues maintain a regular Minyan? We learned that a conservative/reform shul here in Atlanta, has successfully conducted an Orthodox weekday Minyan for many years. Perhaps it is time for Or Ve’ Shalom to try hosting a new Orthodox weekday minyan (Mondays/Thursdays): both for the benefit of our members, and as a service to the community.
We discussed the idea at the April board meeting and I have met with Rabbi Kassorla. He would also like to explore next steps. My hope is we could begin promoting to the Atlanta community a Monday/Thursday orthodox morning minyan; so many of our members can stay at OVS to say Kaddish, celebrate weekday holidays, and take out the Torah on a regular basis.
Please let me know if you have any questions, or if you would like to help with the promotion.
